For the last ten years the Brittany Foundation and it's many volunteers have put together one of the most well-known, respected motorcycle charity rides in North Georgia. The success of the ride was only possible because all hands involved were like-minded with one goal in mind: to raise funds and awareness to benefit children with brain tumors and other life threatening illnesses.
The downturn in the economy took its toll on motorcycle charity rides just like everything else. With a sharp decline in donations, the Brittany Foundation could no longer cover the expenses needed to organize a charitable ride.
Over a great 10yr run, The Brittany Foundation hosted approximately 5500 motorcycles carrying over 10,000 riders on beautiful rides through the NW Ga area. At each event we raffled off over $4000.00 of prizes, all donated from many great sponsors.
These generous sponsors were serious and like-minded when it came to giving to the Brittany Foundation. Every kind of restaurant, bar, motorcycle shop, all taking part in donating to our cause. For 9 years running ALL food we served was generously donated by Williamson Bros. BBQ, in Marietta, Georgia. Danny and Larry Williamson are two of the most generous people I have had the privilege of meeting. The Williamson Bros. donated full BBQ meals each year for 1200 people. Most years the Williamson Bros. would even deliver the meals to our event, and stay and help out at the event.
Some of our title sponsors were: Williamson Bro's BBQ, Mt. Creek Harley-Davidson of Dalton, Ga., 96Rock radio in Atlanta, Ga., Georgia's Full Throttle magazine, along with 100's of generous business' and individuals each and every year.
Over the 10yr span the foundation raised approx $140,000, donating these monies to The Brain Tumor Foundation for Children, The Ronald McDonald House, CURE, Make-A-Wish Foundation, and most importantly, to many N. Ga. families when they had a child in the hospital with any kind of serious illness.
The event raised over $20,000.00. $15.000.00 was donated to the Brain Tumor Foundation For Children of Atlanta to go to the Children's Health Care of Atlanta toward the Intra-Operative MRI machine. I am still amazed at the caring and the love that these bikers and all of the sponsors show. What a super group of people. Please mark your calendar for April 9, 2005 and we hope to see you at The Brittany Foundation's 5th annual "Ride For A Miracle."
